FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Orange County — October 25, 2026. Fountain Valley residents visiting City Hall should plan around renovation work at the building’s main public restrooms. According to the city, its Lobby Restroom Remodel Project began October 5 and is scheduled to continue through the end of December 2026. The work is intended to improve accessibility, facilities and visitor access.
Where are the temporary restrooms?
The city’s official renovation notice says an ADA-accessible portable restroom trailer has been placed in the front City Hall parking lot near the electric-vehicle charging stall. The city says the trailer is available during City Hall operating hours and official evening city meetings. Planned improvements include updated floor layouts, fixtures, lighting and ADA door operators.
Free sandbags at two city locations
The city is also promoting its rainy-season preparedness program. Officials identify free sand and bags at the City Yard, 17300 Mt. Herrmann Street, and the Sports Park, 16210 Brookhurst Street. The municipal notice asks residents to bring their own shovel. Check the current City News announcements or call (714) 593-4600 for distribution details, access and any changes. Availability of free sandbags is not evidence that flooding is happening or that a forecast has been issued for your address.
October 31: Walk with the mayor
Separately, Fountain Valley has scheduled its fourth and final Mile with the Mayor of 2026 for Saturday, October 31, at 9 a.m., meeting at Mimi’s Jewelry, 18591 Brookhurst Street. According to the city, the casual neighborhood walk is open to all and does not require a reservation. The municipal announcement identifies Mayor Jim Cunneen and representatives of the police, fire and city administration as expected participants. Organizers should be contacted directly for any last-minute changes.
